"Led Zeppelin выпускают сборник лучших хитов.

Осенью этого года «посмертная» дискография группы Led Zeppelin пополнится сразу тремя новыми релизами: сборником лучших хитов «Mothership», дополненным переизданием саундтрека к концертному фильму «The Song Remains the Same» и тем же фильмом на DVD, сопровожденным интересными бонусами.

«Mothership» станет преемником двух первых и доселе единственных «бестовых» сборников в активе ветеранов рок-н-ролла: «Early Days» (1999) и «Latter Days» (2000). Компиляция выйдет на двух дисках и включит в себя 24 композиции со всех восьми прижизненных альбомов Led Zeppelin. Подбором лучших песен для сборника занимались сами Роберт Плант, Джимми Пейдж и Джон Пол Джонс. Релиз «Mothership» будет выпущен 13 ноября.

Запланированный к выходу на 20 ноября саундтрек «The Song Remains the Same» будет дополнен сразу шестью композициями, не вошедшими в сет-лист оринигального альбома: «Black Dog», «Over the Hills and Far Away», «Misty Mountain Hop», «Since I've Been Loving You», «The Ocean» и «Heartbreaker». Напомним, что основой пластинки стала запись выступления коллектива в нью-йоркском Madison Square Garden в июле 1973-го.

DVD «The Song Remains the Same» включит в себя все 14 композиций оригинального фильма плюс - впервые - ранее не известные широкой публике сделанные на том же выступлении записи песен «Over the Hills and Far Away», «Celebration Day», «The Ocean» и «Misty Mountain Hop». В качестве бонуса на диск войдет интервью Роберта Планта и менеджера группы Питера Гранта журналистам BBC в 1976-м году и закулисные съемки.

Такую активность Led Zeppelin связывают с предполагаемым воссоединительным концертом группы, который якобы должен состояться осенью этого года в Лондоне. Плант, Пейдж и Джонс, атакуемые подобными вопросами уже более четверти века - буквально с самого момента распада группы в 1980-м, традиционно отмалчиваются."

Led Zeppelin's initial popularity was based as much on their concerts as their albums, so it's strange that the group's only official live album for many years is such an uninspired, boring affair. Released in conjunction with the pseudodocumentary film of the same name, The Song Remains the Same reproduces the very things that made Zeppelin concerts legendary - lengthy solos, intertwining interplay between Jimmy Page and Robert Plant, and ridiculously long songs ("Dazed And Confused" is nearly an entire half-hour) - but the group's performance is not intoxicating; it's long-winded. As scores of bootlegs prove, Led Zeppelin could produce magic with the same formula, but The Song Remains the Same is excruciatingly dull. -- Review by Stephen Thomas Erlewine --
